Suggestions:
The v1.0 NACS is a nice summary of the official book that hits the key topics without having to read 500+ pages. Also, the test dumps listed above are still valid and if you choose to use them the questions on the actual test should not suprise you in the least.
If you choose to not use test dumps, the test questions from the official book are helpful to look over as some are on the test. Lastly, be sure to know basic configuration syntax for switch port security as well as understand how to navigate through the SDM interface specifically for firewall/policy maps and VPN configuration. You do not need to configure anything in SDM, but rather you will be required to click on the appropriate pre-configured SDM interface screenshots to gather the information needed to answer the questions given.

Took the exam the last days with 9xx/1000 points.
I need 805/1000 points in 120 minutes.
60 questions:
1 lab (portsecurity from this site), 2 sims (zone based firewall SDM and VPN SDM)

Material used:
CCNA Security 640-553 Official Exam Certification Guide
CBT Nugget videos (great stuff)
2811 Router with SDM 2.5 (was very helpfull for SDM sims, 26xx XM works also)
2950 Switch for lab
CCNA Security 640-553 Testinside v6.12
640-553 IINS CCNA-Security Pass4sure v4.38

Suggestion:
Most of the questions are describe in CBT Nugget, so you better view it more than one time. If you use TI or P4S check the answers, there are bugs inside or 2 the same questions with differend answers.
In the SDM simlets you don’t configure anything but you have to look at the right place for the answer. The real simlets in the exam are different from them in TI or P4S. It is a good way to get real hardware (26xx XM or 28xx) with SDM 2.5, configure a VPN (only one site) and a zone based firewall and check out where you find the answers.
The questions and answers on this site are real exam questions.

Anyone can upload in 4shared, PDF documents about CCNA Security.

I passed CCNA Security 640-553 today with 988.
The paper is costly (250$),I took my own time.

Stuff which helped me crack this is furnished as under:
1) Cisco Press Official Exam Guide for IINS
Go through it throughly, especialy the questions given before every Chapter.
2) GNS3 work out live scenarios.Configure SDM with GNS3 so that you get to know look n feel of it
3) Pass4sure dumps version 4.38 with 138 questions.Questions gets changed in terms no. of options, multiple choice gets converted to drag and drop & vice versa. So prepare accordingly.
Few answers are also wrong which can be hunted down from forum and blogs.

So go for it guys…this may boost you up as I also sat 4 hours on net reading blogs n forums just to get some confirmation of this sort!!!

You will need a valid CCNA to get CCNA Security Certificate. Also passing CCNA Security will verify your CCNA.

@helterskelter: Yes, the CCNA Security is a new Cisco Certification and it is still exist.

@LORDBINARY: Some questions (about 4 and a lab-sim) are being updating. You don’t need other materials to pass the exam but make sure you understand the concept behind each question.

you must have a license for the viewer to read more then 5 questions. The license cost about 20 Euro.

Turt, was configing GNS hard or were there steps so you could use sdm inside of GNS?

We can use SDM inside of GNS3. It really works well. Please do a search with google, there are many tutorials about it.

Hi Doc,

You need to configure the following
1. Configure MS Loopback adapter with IP address
2. Open the GNS3
3. Drag the cloud icon to the working area. Right click the cloud and go to configure. You will see all the ethernet cards. Choose the MS Loopback.
Note: In case if you are not seeing the ethernet then there can be two reasons 1. Check user control setting… put it to never notify 2. Disable any firewalls. Then it should work
4. Drag the router for which you have a valid IOS. Configure the FE with IP addr from the same range as the loopback. Try pinging the MS loopback from router. It should ping. Then try pinging the router from command prompt. It should ping.
5. Run the SDM and choose the router IP. YOu will see the SDM opening up and checks for a valid Java. (Install a older version of Java say below ver 6.)
6. You will have a working sdm which you can use for practice. In case if you are unable to open the additional tasks in the sdm then it is purely because of JAVA only.

Let me in case of any further help.

Passed 640-553 few days ago with 1xxx/1000. Thanks Security Tut for the SDM sim example.

Preparation material
1. CBT Nuggets
2. Self Study Guide by Catherine Paquet. Found this better organized than the Official Exam guide
3. CCNA Security Notes (Morgan) pdf . About 60 pages of highly condensed material but presented really well.
4. Cisco CCNA Security Prep – CiscoLive Networkers 2008. A Power Point in PDF form. Since every thing is visually presented makes for very easy understanding and retention.
5. Worked out all the labs from the Cisco Student Lab Manual
- GNS3 0.72 + SDM 2.5 (on PC) + Java JRE 1.6_u3 + Win 7 Home Basic
- IOS for 3725 (found this handy for the manual VPN configuration)
- WinRadius (for learning AAA Radius baby steps). Freeradius.net also works but is not GUI based.
- Cisco ACS 4.2 (for learning AAA TACACS+ – Got more adventurous)
- Real hardware 2950 Switch for the Switching Security
- KiwiSyslog Lite Edition (for syslog integration)

On the exam though the SDM simulations are really difficult to make out whats on the screen on a 15 inch LCD monitor. Looks all fuzzy.

Would strongly recommend doing all the exercises from the Cisco Lab guide using SDM.
Particulary when you enable the debug mode on SDM it teaches you a lot on the commands you need to configure. 50% of my CLI learning was due to this.

The exam was 99% of the questions and sims on this site.
SDM lab was simple (clicking on certain tabs was difficult), the info was all there.
The other sims where drag and drop and the only necessary configuration was regarding l2 port security (just like the one here).

Good luck and kudos on the info u provide.

Some questions in the “Cryptographic Systems” section on this site were drag and drop in the exam (question 1 and 11).

is there a site like this regarding the exams for ccsp (like the displyed “Network Resources”)?

i am not sure about a site for CCSP but maybe we will temporarily use this site to share CCSP experience.

I didn’t use dumps as in pdf files. I used vce files. U can google the “.vce” and find the site.
The latest 2 dumps for the 640-553 are valid.

I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction regarding SDM. I have GNS3 and I need an IOS and SDM so that I can practice for the exam. Although I can use this site and pass without the need to actually practice on SDM, I dont want to be a “Paper Certified” CCNA-Security.

I wondering does anything come up on “Cisco Secure ACS” in the test. If so what kind of questions , as it is mentioned in the book or do you just need to know that it exists for the moment.

I just wanted to make sure that there wouldnt be questions other than those found here. I understand that they may change these up a bit and thats fine.

Then there is the study guide wrong, or the answer in the exsam is false but accepted as correct.

CBT Nuggets, GNS3 for LAB, P4S v3.8 / Testinside v6.12, and M. Morgan notes helped me alot. Don’t worry you will be to pass this exam in one shot if you go through these at least 2-3 times.

Man .. this site rocks. I just went through the questions on this website in a hurry, Did not concentrate much on the answers . I was confident that I will clear the exam, so didn’t focus much on the dumps .
I cleared the exam >950 .. but, all the questions .. 60/60 questions were from this website!!

Passed today! 977/1000. Thanks TUT and contributors! Sims, questions from this site are valid. Also use exam collection. Know your stuff however! You are going to have to pull off an interview some day for a job! Used CBT nuggets, Cisco Lab Manual (which was excellent), Security TUT and exam collection. Took my time to learn concepts and how to’s then supplemental material. TUT you have no idea what this site has meant to me and others who struggled. A Big thanks whoever you are!

Hola, I Passed today 988/1000. No han cambiado el examen. Los laboratorios variaron el numero de la lista de acceso de alguna VPN y nombre de los sitios remotos, pero en general todas las preguntas aparecen en la Pagina. Igual recomiendo practicar los laboratorios y leer el study guide.
Excelente pagina. Ya habia presentado el SNRS pero debido a que ahora es obligatorio presentar el CCNAS me todo presentarlo de una vez.
